Position Summary |
Interior Health is seeking experienced and passionate mental health nurses for a casual opportunity with the Gateway Program in Williams Lake, BC. Gateway is a 5-bed inpatient substance use crisis program that offers short stay for people in emotional or psychiatric distress and/or are in need of sub-acute withdrawal management. Located on the 3rd floor of Cariboo Memorial Hospital, this program provides a level of service mid-way between out-patient therapy and in-patient hospitalization and works towards facilitating a swift return to community living arrangements. This position works with clients who are admitted to the program as well as people from the community and ED who are being admitted. There’s also an in-reach component with the emergency department. The Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse works as an integral part of an integrated mental health and substance use service. The Nurse provides urgent outreach, responsive assessment and treatment, case management, GP shared care, education, and support to individuals experiencing acute and/or chronic mental illness and/or problem substance use. The Nurse in charge leaves at 16:00 and after that point this position will assume in charge duties. This position offers the opportunity to work autonomously in addition to working alongside a multidisciplinary team. The staffing compliment consists of one nurse and one care aide. Shifts of work are rotating days and nights; 08:30 to 20:30 and 20:30 to 08:30. Qualifications |
Graduation from an approved school of nursing. Two (2) years’ recent related experience in a mental health and substance use environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Current valid B.C. driver’s license. |
