Cariboo Memorial Hospital is presently hiring for Casual positions within the Medical Device Reprocessing Department.
As the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician, you will perform a series of detailed technical duties related to the decontamination, sterilization, reassembly, function testing and distribution of medical and/or surgical supplies and instruments for various areas of the hospital, in addition perform clerical duties and record keeping.
This is a casual opportunity. Casual employment provides relief in positions occupied by regular full time and regular part time employees. This includes short-notice, on-call shifts to covering in a specific position. Casual employees are called in to work in the order of their seniority and accumulate seniority on the basis of the number of hours worked. Interior Health requires all employees that work Casual to work a minimum of 225 hours over a twelve (12) month period.
Once hired into a casual position, employees become eligible to apply internal on regular positions as they become vacant. Casual employees will receive 12.6% of their straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is the option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans.

• Grade 12
• Successful completion of a recognized Sterile Supply Processing course, plus one year’s recent related experience.

• Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology.
• Mathematical aptitude.
• Ability to communicate and deal effectively with others.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to organize work.
