Position Summary |
Interior Health’s Cariboo Memorial Hospital (CMH) invites applications for the role of Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT). CMH is looking for MDRTs who are knowledgeable in principles of infection control, decontamination, sterilization, and aseptic techniques and with experience in cleaning, sorting, assembling and picking complex types of instrument sets, picking surgical cases and many other duties associated with clerical and record keeping. CMH, located in Williams Lake, BC, is a Community Hospital with 28 inpatient beds offering ER, ICU, OR, medical-surgical, and obstetrical services. Lab and diagnostic imaging on site; outpatient hemodialysis unit operated on-site. CMH OR Department consists of two OR theatres and one Endoscopy suite where general surgery, OB Gyne surgery, dental, and endoscopy procedures are performed. There is an active Ambulatory Care Unit. The MDR Technician team consists of a lead tech and two technicians. The team supports the hospital’s reprocessing in addition to a Specialist office located within the building. As a member of the CMH Medical Device Reprocessing Team, you will receive, sort, disassemble, clean, decontaminate, sterilize, assemble, wrap and reassemble all trays, instruments, carts, supplies and equipment related to the Operating Room (OR) and/or other areas of the hospital. Reporting to Manger, Clinical Operations Operating Room, you will draw upon your ability to perform inventory counts, requisition supplies and equipment, report and record shortages, problems and complaints related to instruments, supplies and equipment, etc., and maintain records on instruments, supplies and equipment processed and requisitioned in accordance with established procedures. Casual employment means work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Casual employees receive 12.6% of their straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans. Days of work will be within a Monday to Friday schedule and shifts times during the day (07:00 to 15:00, 08:00 to 16:00, 08:30 to 16:30). Qualifications |
• Grade 12 • Successful completion of a recognized Sterile Supply Processing course. • One year’s recent, related experience is an asset. Skills and Abilities: • Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology. • Mathematical aptitude. • Ability to communicate and deal effectively with others. • Ability to operate related equipment. • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. • Ability to organize work.
