Vernon Jubilee Hospital (VJH) offers services that include core physician specialties, 24 hour emergency and trauma services, acute and obstetrical care. It is one of four regional hospitals within Interior Health’s network of health-care facilities. It serves approximately 86,000 residents in the areas of Vernon, Armstrong, Enderby, Spallumcheen, Salmon Arm, Revelstoke and Nakusp. The hospital, consisting of 160 beds, is a new seven storey, 231,500 square feet tower bringing together programs in an efficient facility that enhances patient care.
We are seeking Occupational Therapists willing to orientate to all service areas, particularly long term care and community rehab.
As the Occupational Therapist you will work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team providing occupational therapy services including assessment, treatment planning and implementation, program planning, consultation, equipment prescription and education of patients and/or their caregivers to promote functional independence and enable the patient to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes. You will contribute to the organization and the overall goals of the department; participate in departmental/program quality assurance initiatives, meetings, research, and education; and provide work direction to the rehabilitation assistants working with the rehabilitation team in regard to transfer of function.
This is a casual opportunity. Casual employment includes: short-notice, on-call availability; workload coverage during a temporary absence; and/or providing relief coverage in a specific position. Days and shifts may vary with hours 08:00 to 16:00. Once hired into a casual position, employees become eligible to apply internal on relief and permanent positions as they become vacant. Upon completion of 180 hours in Casual employment, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans.
• Graduation from a recognized Occupational Therapy Program.
• Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC). Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists or British Columbia Society of Occupational Therapists.
• Valid BC Driver’s License.
