Position Summary |
Interior Health has Casual opportunities for a Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) Technician/Perioperative Aide at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. This position assists the surgical team with the preparation of the Operating Room (OR) theaters and the positioning and preparation of the surgical patients and related supplies/equipment. Transports patients, specimens, equipment and supplies within the perioperative area. The attendant will be knowledgeable in the use, care and location of perioperative equipment and supplies. Restocks supplies in theatres and storage areas. Provides input to the surgical team regarding patient observations and interactions. This position also performs a series of detailed technical duties related to the decontamination, sterilization, reassembly, function testing and distribution of medical and/or surgical supplies and instruments for various areas of the hospital; and performs related clerical duties and record keeping. Casual employment provides relief coverage in positions occupied by regular employees. It also includes short-notice, on-call shifts covering immediate absences on a day-to-day basis. Days of work would include Days, Evenings, and/or Nights. Casual employment means work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Qualifications |
Education, Training and Experience: Grade 12, successful completion of Sterile Processing Course, plus one year’s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Skills and Abilities: • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. • Mathematical aptitude. • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. • Ability to organize work. • Ability to operate related equipment. • Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology.
