In accordance with the vision and values of the organization and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse-Orthopaedic Technician performs assessments, plans, implements, and provides nursing care to patients attending Vernon Jubilee Hospital’s Emergency Room Minor Treatment/Streaming Department.
Under the direction and supervision of Physicians and Registered Nurses this position provides orthopaedic care by performing duties such as assessing and evaluating patient condition; reviewing x-rays to confirm plan of care; applying casts and splints; removing externally exposed pins, wires, staples and sutures; setting up traction equipment and performs related orthopaedic duties.
Vernon Jubilee Hospital’s ER is a fantastic place to work; it’s fast paced with many opportunities to learn from others and on the job, such as stepping in and helping with codes, ECGs, the Ears/Nose/Throat room, etc.
Days of work will be rotating where shifts will be scheduled Days (09:00 to 17:00) and Evenings (14:00 to 22:00).
This is a temporary 0.47 FTE position until October 24, 2020 or return of incumbent.

Graduation from a BCCNP recognized practical nursing education program plus completion of formal post-basic education in Orthopaedics.
Current practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP) required.
