Position Summary

The friendly team of care professionals at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital is seeking a dynamic and experienced LPN–Orthopaedic Technologist to join them! This is a fast-paced and diverse casual position which will be split between the Emergency department and Orthopaedic clinic.

As the LPN-Orthopaedic Technologist you will perform assessments and plan, implement and provide nursing care to patients in an ambulatory care setting. You will also dispense and administer oral, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications in accordance with pharmaceutical and organizational policies and procedures. Under the direction of a physician you will provide orthopaedic care by assessing and evaluating patient condition, reviewing x-rays, applying casts and splints, and removing pins and sutures as well as setting up traction equipment and performing related orthopaedic duties.

This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements may vary each week on an as needed basis. Casual employment includes: short-notice, on-call availability; workload coverage during a temporary absence; and/or providing relief coverage in a specific position. Once hired into a casual role, employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent part-time or full time positions. There are many opportunities with Interior Health that begin with casual positions and lead to regular employment.

Shifts of work are rotating and may be scheduled during days or evenings; 09:00 to 17:00, 14:00 to 22:00 and 08:00 to 16:00

Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses plus completion of recognized training in Orthopaedic Technology or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current full practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP) required.

Current CPR certification required.
