We are actively seeking a new Medical Device Reprocessing Technician/Perioperative Aide to join our team at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital. This is a relief full time opportunity until the return of incumbent.
The Medical Device Reprocessing Technician/Perioperative Aide assists the surgical team with the preparation of the Operating Room (OR) theaters and the positioning and preparation of the surgical patients and related supplies/equipment. Other duties relate to transporting patients, specimens, equipment and supplies within the perioperative area; restocking supplies in theatres and storage areas; and providing input to the surgical team regarding patient observations and interactions. This position also performs a series of detailed technical duties related to the decontamination, sterilization, reassembly, function testing and distribution of medical and/or surgical supplies and instruments for various areas of the hospital; and performs related clerical duties and record keeping.
We are looking for a candidate who is knowledgeable in the use, care and location of perioperative equipment and supplies.
Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) is the regional referral hospital for the Kootenay Boundary Health Services Area. Perioperative Services has 5 surgical suites, 1 urology room, and the surgical services performed in here are orthopedic, general, ENT, Gyne/OBS, urology, plastics, dental, and ophthalmology.
Days of work are Monday to Friday where shifts are scheduled 06:00 to 14:00 hours or 09:00 to 17:00 hours. This position is eligible for Interior Health’s extensive Benefits package after meeting the probationary period requirements.

Education, Training and Experience:
Grade 12, successful completion of Sterile Processing Course, plus one year’s recent related experience.
Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Mathematical aptitude.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
• Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology.
