Position Summary

Are you an experienced Clinical Dietitian with experience in Chronic Disease Management? If so, Interior Health has an opportunity available in our Diabetes Education Centre in Trail, BC. The position is based out of the Kiro Wellness Centre where our commitment is to Patient and Family Centered Care. This model of care delivery includes our patients, their families and significant others as being partners in care.

A strong candidate will have excellent clinical skills, experience working with diabetes and current registration with the College of Dietitians of BC. The successful candidate would ideally come with the Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) qualification with insulin dose adjustment experience or be willing to work towards achieving this certification whilst in the position.

This position is relief full time until the return of the incumbent (approximately July 2019). Interior Health offers an excellent benefit and pension plan for relief and permanent employees.

The Clinical Dietitian is a member of a multidisciplinary health care team and provides nutrition care and support to patients and groups according to established policies, standards and procedures. Utilizing clinical techniques and knowledge, the Clinical Dietitian provides nutrition services through: nutrition assessment; care planning and charting; intervention, goal setting and monitoring; counseling and education programs; consults and communicates with the multidisciplinary care teams; acts as a resource to other health professionals and communities within Interior Health. The Clinical Dietitian provides input to the Professional Practice Leader by participating in the development of nutrition practice guidelines and procedures; research and continuous quality improvement initiatives for the facility and program.

• Baccalaureate degree in nutrition and dietetics.
• Successful completion of an accredited hospital based dietetic internship program (or equivalent acceptable to the facility).
• Registrant of the College of Dietitians of British Columbia.
• Two year’s of clinical nutrition experience in a health care environment or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience suitable to the facility or program is required.
• Practice specific requirements and experience in programs applicable to practice area such as: Diabetes Education, Nutrition Support, and Kidney and Chronic Disease Management Programs.
• Valid BC Driver’s License.
