Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) team in Salmon Arm.

This position will work within the community crisis response team (CCRT) and will require experience providing brief mental health and substance use assessments of clients in crisis and work in a variety of settings such as office based, community based and in hospital. We are seeking candidates with flexibility, critical thinking skills and an ability to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team.

As the MHSU Nurse, you will ensure that persons with serious severe and persistent mental health problems and/or problematic substance use who may or may not be in crisis have access to timely, responsive, evidence-based treatment. You will provide assessment, treatment, case management, community support, and as required, urgent response to clients who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. Functioning as the primary clinician, you will utilize a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.

Shifts of work will be scheduled rotating days/evenings 09:00 to 17:00, 12:30 to 20:30, 13:30 to 21:30, 10:00 to 18:00.

Qualifications

Graduation from an approved school of nursing.

Two years’ of recent related MHSU experience in the assigned clinical area(s) (such as Adult Short Term Assessment and Treatment (ASTAT), Adult Community Support Services (ACSS), Urgent Response, Elderly Services, Alcohol & Drug) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of British Columbia (CRPNBC).

Current valid B.C. driver’s license
