Community :SALMON ARM
Facility :SHUSWAP LAKE GEN HOSPITAL
We have a casual opportunity for a Generalist Sonographer at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital (SLH) in Salmon Arm, BC.
The role of the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures/examinations and related duties while working in collaboration with radiologists/cardiologists, physicians and other health care professionals. Echo experience is an asset for this position.
SLH is a busy facility located on the Trans-Canada Highway, capturing the needs of several surrounding communities. Population draw is over 33,000 with some programs, such as CT and Echo, serving an additional 10,000 from Revelstoke. The Imaging Department at SLH has large, spacious diagnostic rooms in all departments. The Ultrasound and Echo machines are all top of the line, new units that produce spectacular images.
On site Radiologists allow for a wide variety of exams and interventional procedures. The majority of work is outpatient based, with approximately 25 percent on inpatients or emergency patients for Ultrasound/Echo. There are no on-call services for Sonography. SLH provides approximately 7,200 ultrasounds and 2,000 echo exams per year. The majority of Sonographers provide General and Echo services, splitting their days with half of each. SLH is a great place to work with good flexibility and low inpatient/ER patient volumes. We have an excellent team, including two full time Radiologists on site. All of our Interior Health sites are connected through our regional PACS System (Picture Archive and Communication System) and integrated into our single Electronic Health Records, providing real-time patient histories anywhere within Interior Health. We have clinical advisory groups that are working together to ensure best practice throughout Interior Health.
For a challenging, growth-oriented career in a beautiful natural setting where balanced lifestyle choices abound, come to Interior Health and join our quest to set new standards of excellence in the delivery of health services in the Province of BC. Apply Today!
