The Public Health Nurse – Maternity Care Services works within established Public Health Nursing (PHN) best practices using a population health and community development approach to assess a range of factors that determine the health of childbearing families and communities during the prenatal/postnatal period. You will plan, organize, implement, and evaluate services and coordinate PHN services with those of other community agencies.
This position provides health promotion, health education and disease/injury prevention programs and services to individuals, groups and communities in locations such as homes, schools, and other community settings to increase the knowledge of health, promote healthy behaviors, and provide early identification and intervention services to prevent disease and injury. The PHN also provides feedback and input to the Manager (or designate) regarding service improvements.
The population this position focuses on is childbearing and childrearing families in the prenatal/postnatal period.
This is a casual position. Hours of work are not guaranteed. Shift times are 08:30 – 16:30 and are rotating days.
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
Completion of a recognized course in human lactation and breastfeeding and one (1) year recent, related experience in public health maternity care nursing or an equivalent combination of education, training experience.
Current valid BC Driver’s License.
Travel is a requirement for this position and transportation arrangements must meet the Employer’s requirements. You are required to hold a valid BC Driver’s License and may be required to drive a personal car on mileage and /or be assigned a fleet vehicle as a condition of employment.
