Position Summary

We are presently hiring and looking for new a Casual Clinical Dietitian team member to join our Nutrition Services Department at Penticton Regional Hospital.

The Clinical Dietitian is a member of a multidisciplinary health care team and provides nutrition care and support to patients and groups according to established policies, standards and procedures. Utilizing clinical techniques and knowledge, the Clinical Dietitian provides nutrition services through: nutrition assessment; care planning and charting; intervention, goal setting and monitoring; counseling and education programs; consults and communicates with the multidisciplinary care teams; acts as a resource to other health professionals and communities within Interior Health. The Clinical Dietitian provides input to the Professional Practice Leader by participating in the development of nutrition practice guidelines and procedures; research and continuous quality improvement initiatives for the facility and program.

This is a Casual employment opportunity that provides relief in positions occupied by Regular employees. This includes short-notice call out shifts to workload coverage in a specific position for a short term. This opportunity for Casual employment consists of providing coverage throughout the South Okanagan where Interior Health employs Clinical Dietitians. Access to a personal vehicle will be required. Available shifts will be within a Monday to Friday schedule; 08:00 to 16:00 hours.

Once hired into a casual position, employees become eligible to apply internal on relief and permanent positions as they become vacant. Casual employees will receive 12.6% of their straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is the option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans.

• Baccalaureate degree in nutrition and dietetics.
• Successful completion of an accredited hospital based dietetic internship program.
• Registrant of the College of Dietitians of British Columbia. Restricted Acts A, B, and/or C are an asset.
• One year of clinical nutrition experience in a health care environment preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License.
