We require an independent Rehabilitation Assistant who has the confidence and skills to work unsupervised in several Interior Health worksites located within the Oliver, BC area. We are building our team of Casual Rehabilitation Assistants who are interested in working with South Okanagan General Hospital, Sunnybank Retirement Centre, and McKinney Place Extended Care.

Under the clinical direction of a Therapist, the Rehabilitation Assistant functions as a member of the multidisciplinary team in meeting the needs of the client. The Rehabilitation Assistant carries out rehabilitative treatment plans and programs and assists the therapist in monitoring and evaluating residents’ progression.
Casual employment includes: 1) Vacation relief, 2) Union relief, 3) and Short-call sick. Interior Health requires all employees that work casual to work a minimum of 225 hours over a twelve (12) month period. Days of work are Mondays through Fridays and shifts may vary with hours 08:00 to 16:00. Once hired into a casual position, employees become eligible to apply internal on relief and permanent positions as they become vacant. Casual employees will receive 12.6% of their straight time pay in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is the option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans.

Education, Training and Experience:
• Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant or Therapy Assistant Diploma Program.
• Valid Driver’s License is required.
Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
