Position Summary

The South Okanagan General Hospital in Oliver, B.C. is currently seeking a reliable and flexible Medical Lab Technologist, to join their welcoming Laboratory team.

As the Medical Lab Technologist (MLT) you will work independently within our supportive and cohesive team environment, providing vital Lab services for the community of Oliver and the surrounding areas. This is a generalist MLT position and offers interesting and varied work within all areas of Core Lab including hematology, chemistry and the blood bank.

SOGH is an active, rural hospital serving the communities of Oliver, Osoyoos, and surrounding areas that sees an average of 16,000 emergency visits per year. There are 7 Emergency beds and 18 acute care beds which regularly operate at 100% capacity. This busy hospital is co-located with an 80 bed long-term care facility and also offers outpatient Lab services.

This is a casual position which means hours may vary. This position is also expected to participate in on-call to provide out of hours coverage.

With its mild climate, relaxed lifestyle and scenic surroundings, Oliver is a wonderful residential location to call home. Recreational opportunities in the area include hiking, cycling, canoeing, fishing and skiing.


Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved Medical Laboratory Science Program
• Current certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and eligible for membership with the BC Society of Laboratory Sciences (BCSLS) and/or CSMLS
• One (1) year recent related experience
