Medical Laboratory Technologist opportunities now available at the Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson!
As the Laboratory Technologist you will work independently within our supportive and cohesive team environment, providing vital Lab services to both inpatients and outpatients from the Nelson community and surrounding areas. This is a generalist Lab position and offers interesting and varied work within all areas of Core Lab.
Typical duties include: routine and/or complex tests utilizing manual procedures and automated instruments, greeting patients, collecting and/or receiving specimens, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS), validating/reporting test results, maintaining instruments and preparing solutions and control agents.
This is a casual position which means that hours are not guaranteed and may vary. Shift times are allocated as required and can be: 07:00-15:00, 10:00-18:00 and 14:30-22:30
Kootenay Lake Hospital is a Level 1 Community Hospital offering services including surgical, inpatient and emergency. The Laboratory offers safe, convenient, respectful and accessible services for inpatients and outpatients.

Graduation from an approved Medical Laboratory Science Program
Current certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and eligible for membership with the BC Society of Laboratory Sciences (BCSLS) and/or CSMLS
One (1) year recent related experience
