Relief part time Medical Lab Technologist opportunity now available at the Arrow Lakes Hospital in Nakusp!
As the Laboratory Technologist you will work independently within our supportive and cohesive team environment, providing vital Lab services for clients from the Castlegar community and surrounding areas. This is a generalist Lab position and offers interesting and varied work within all areas of Core Lab (Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine) and Phlebotomy Accession. This site does not have acute care beds, but offers laboratory and radiology; urgent care; outpatient ambulatory care; community services; long term residential care services; and/or on-site doctors’ offices.
Typical duties include: routine and/or complex tests utilizing manual procedures and automated instruments, greeting patients, collecting and/or receiving specimens, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS), validating/reporting test results, maintaining instruments and preparing solutions and control agents.
Days of work are rotating and shift times are 07:00 to 15:00, 08:00 to 16:00 and 16:00 to 07:00.

• Graduation from an approved Medical Laboratory Science Program
• Current certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and eligible for membership with the BC Society of Laboratory Sciences (BCSLS) and/or CSMLS
• One (1) year recent related experience
