Arrow Lakes Hospital is seeking a reliable and motivated Medical Lab Assistant to join the team based in the pristine lakeside community of Nakusp, situated in the West Kootenay area of B.C.
The Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of duties within the Laboratory such as taking blood samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine lab tests, distributing specimens to Laboratory departments and outside Laboratories, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and performing related clerical duties. They shall also perform ECG testing as required.
Days of work are Monday to Friday on a casual basis and shift times are 07:00-15:00. Casual employees are eligible to bid on internal vacancies including temporary and permanent opportunities. Many employees begin their careers at Interior Health in a casual position.
Arrow Lakes Hospital is a small Level 1 community hospital in the Kootenay Boundary health service area situated between Nelson and Vernon. The site offers services including laboratory, surgical, inpatient and emergency.

Successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program
One year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
Ability to type 25 WPM *please upload a copy of an invigilated typing test dated within the last 24mths. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests*
