This position provides education services to the following sites: Castlegar Urgent Care (Emergency), Arrow Lakes Hospital (Acute & Emergency), Slocan Community Health Center (Emergency), Victorian Health Center of Kaslo (Emergency), Edgewood Health Center (Outpost). The successful applicant will be required to travel frequently to Castlegar, Kaslo, Nakusp, New Denver and Edgewood (EDW).
The Clinical Practice Educator (CPE) provides leadership in the delivery of nursing education and instruction to staff and patients/clients/residents based on adult education principles and philosophy within a specific clinical specialty or patient/client/resident population. The CPE applies nursing theory, advanced knowledge and leadership concepts in providing clinical guidance and resource support to staff. The CPE assists the Manager in establishing and maintaining standards of care and in providing and participating in continuous quality improvement environment. The CPE provides guidance and support to staff in the application of the nursing process in the provision of patient/client/resident care.
Nakusp is a busy summer area and is on a popular motorcycle route. In the winter, the area provides lots of heli-skiing and snowmobiling. The logging industry is the major employer in the area. This picturesque area, with its mountains and back woods country as well as many local lakes/rivers, is gaining popularity as an early retirement destination for people interested in enjoying the outdoors all year round.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake training to become an ACLS/CPR/FHS instructor.
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, advanced preparation in the emergency clinical specialty area, three years’ recent related experience in clinical area of expertise and two years’ formal experience in adult teaching/learning, curriculum development, teaching, and providing in service or staff development function or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
Current CPR certification.
