Position Summary

We are currently recruiting for casual Cooks, Food Service Workers, Food Service Supervisors, and Cleaners to join our teams in Kelowna. Our facilities include Kelowna General Hospital, Cottonwoods Care Centre, Brookhaven Care Centre, David Lloyd Jones Home, Three Links Manor, and Hospice House.

Casual employment offers flexibility and does not guarantee a set amount of hours, and hours can vary from 0 to 37.5 per week.

FOOD SERVICE WORKER - As the Food Service Worker you will perform a variety of duties within a food service operation such as: Portioning and serving meals, washing and peeling vegetables and fruit, washing dishes and utensils, perform cleaning duties and setting up and delivering meal carts. You must have a Food Safe Certificate for this position, please attach your certificate to your application. The hourly rate is $19.75.

FOOD SERVICE SUPERVISOR - As the Food Service Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the Food Service operations in the designated facility. They will perform such duties as: supervising designated staff, ordering food and supplies, performing other departmental administrative duties, and/or visiting patients to obtain diet related information in regards to nutritional and therapeutic diet needs. You must have graduated from a recognized two year program in Food Service Supervision. Please attach your certificate to your application. The hourly rate is $27.54

COOK - As the Cook, you will perform duties related to the preparation and cooking of food items; portioning and serving food, washing and cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils and designated cooking/work stations. You must have graduated from a recognized 12 month program in quantity cooking for this position, please attach your certificate to your application. The hourly rate is $22.89.

CLEANER – As the cleaner you will perform housekeeping duties throughout the facility to ensure, clean and sanitary conditions in areas such as patient/resident/client rooms, washrooms, corridors, hallways, lounges, offices and common areas used by staff, visitors and patients/residents/clients. You will clean areas such as; floors, stairways, walls, windows, ceilings and walkways by methods such as sweeping, vacuuming, dust mopping, spot washing, and wet washing with mops and buckets and/or mechanical equipment. You may also be required to apply floor finishes and/or buffs floors with mechanical equipment as required. The Hourly rate is $20.15.

Qualifications

• Grade 10, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Food Safe Certificate required for the Food Service Worker or Cook
• Graduation from a recognized 12-month program in quantity cooking or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience for the Cook position
• Graduation from a recognized two year program in Food Service Supervision for Food Service Supervisors

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

• Ability to operate related equipment.
