We are seeking to build our casual pool of Respiratory Therapists at Kelowna General Hospital (KGH).
In this role the Respiratory Therapist performs ongoing respiratory care in a multi-disciplinary setting to all ages of clients (i.e. newborn to elderly and in-between). The overall goal is enhancing quality of life from the perspective of the client/family. The Respiratory Therapist practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice as outlined by the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) as well as within a client and family centered care model. Demonstrates continuous improvement and best practice approach in respiratory practice. Maintains and advances own clinical competence. Participates on committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.
The Respiratory Therapy role is well developed at this facility and offers the therapist autonomy where work covers a wide variety and each day is never the same.
A variety of shifts will be offered in:
• Acute Care (i.e. hospital wards, ICU, Emergency dept and H.A.R.T.);
• Pulmonary Function (i.e. outpatient diagnostic testing); and/or
• Community Care (i.e. education, assessment, smoking cessation work, clinics and in-home care).
Casual employment means there are no guarantee of hours and work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Casual employees receive 12.6 percent of straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, Casual employees have the option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans. Many careers with Interior Health begin with on-call employment and lead to regular employment.

• Graduation from a recognized Respiratory Therapy program.
• Current certification with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and eligible for registration with the British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT) and CSRT.
• Current valid BC Driver’s License.
