We have an exciting casual opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our staff at the Cara Centre in Kelowna, B.C. We are looking for a self-directed, motivated, reliable and flexible Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse who enjoys working in a team environment and has a strong desire to make a difference in someone’s life. The Cara Centre is an 11 bed facility. This facility is for individuals who have a mental illness or psychiatric concerns, and are interested in working on personal wellness, community integration, and achieving desired quality of life. Our goal is to help individuals develop skills and access resources as required to enhance their capacity to be successful and satisfied in the living, working, learning and social environments of their choice. Cara Centre is staffed 24/7 with nurses and support staff. Additional staff are on site Monday through Fridays and include a Team Leader, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist and resident Psychiatrist. Cara Centre provides private room accommodation, communal living areas and a supportive lifestyle where clients can participate in cooking, cleaning, shopping and social activities. All meals are cooked on site. Admission to Cara Centre is open to both male and females aged 19 and up, and is by referral only. Referrals can be made by Psychiatrists or other Mental Health Professionals involved with the individual, and are sent to the Tertiary Utilization Committee (TUC) for evaluation and consideration. To be accepted into Cara Centre, the TUC must deem the client appropriate for this type of environment and program. This is a casual position. The shift type(s) are days and nights and shift times rotate from 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 hours. If you’re an experienced nurse who's passionate about mental health, come and join the IH team. Qualifications |
Graduation from an approved school of nursing and two years’ recent related experience in a mental health and addictions environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). ** Experience with psycho-social rehabilitation is an asset.
