Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) opportunity available now at the Kelowna General Hospital!
Kelowna General Hospital is a tertiary hospital and acts as the referral site for the central and eastern part of the health region. With the opening of the Medical Program at UBCO, KGH has also become a progressive teaching facility. KGH provides both outpatient and inpatient services that is supported by all 5 Laboratory disciplines including 24/7 Core Lab and Microbiology services. The KGH Laboratory is our largest with over 190 people working in a variety of generalist and specialist areas including MLAs, MLTs, Technical Specialists and Pathologists.
The Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of duties within the Laboratory such as taking blood samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine lab tests, distributing specimens to Laboratory departments and outside Laboratories, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and performing related clerical duties. Performs ECG testing as required.
This is a temporary part-time 0.8fte opportunity in Accession. Days of work are Monday to Friday and shift times are 15:00-23:00.

Successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program
One year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
Ability to type 25 WPM *please upload a copy of an invigilated typing test dated within the last 24mths. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests*
