In accordance with the vision and values of the organization and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse-Orthopaedic Technician performs assessments, plans, implements, and provides nursing care to patients attending Kelowna General Hospital’s Emergency Room Department.
Under the direction and supervision of Physicians and Registered Nurses this position provides orthopaedic care by performing duties such as assessing and evaluating patient condition; reviewing x-rays to confirm plan of care; applying casts and splints; removing externally exposed pins, wires, staples and sutures; setting up traction equipment and performs related orthopaedic duties.
With approximately 86,000 visits a year, the KGH Emergency Department is one of the busiest tertiary Emergency Departments in all of BC. The variety of clinical experiences is unparalleled and includes trauma, pediatrics, cardiac, mental health, geriatrics, addictions, acute medicine and oncology. We are also known for innovation in clinical practice by having our Registered Nurses initiate diagnostics and advanced practice protocols.
Days of work will be rotating where shifts will be scheduled Days (10:00 to 22:00) and Evenings (19:30 to 07:30).

Graduation from a BCCNP recognized practical nursing education program plus completion of formal post-basic education in Orthopaedics.
Current practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP) required.
