Interior Health’s Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) invites applications for the role of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Gastro Intestinal (GI) Lab. KGH is looking for LPN knowledgeable in the practice focus of perioperative or minor surgical nursing to join the Ambulatory Care Team.
KGH is a tertiary hospital is the region’s main referral centre offering a full range of services with approximately 400 beds and over 84,000 ED visits yearly. KGH's Ambulatory Care operates 7 days a week. Minor surgeries, including Plastic Surgery, ENT are performed, as well as medical treatments including blood product transfusions and IV treatments. The RN, Endoscopy works along physicians assisting with scopes.
As member of the KGH Ambulatory Care team, you will work to the scope or extent of the skills that the LPN performs according to the predictability of the outcome for a given client population. Reporting to Manger, Clinical Operations, you will draw upon your ability assess and monitor patient/family’s actual and potential strengths and limitations including physiological, psychological, socio-cultural, and spiritual needs.
Casual employment means work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Shifts when available will fall within a Day schedule. Casual employees receive 12.6% of their straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans. A Casual position may lead into regular employment opportunities as once hired, employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent part-time or full time positions.

Facility Details: KGH is a 441-bed, tertiary referral hospital offering high-level, specialty medical care including 24 hour emergency and trauma services, ambulatory and outpatient clinics, and diagnostic/paramedical services. Endoscopic procedures performed included colonoscopy, gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy and endoscopic retrograde cholangio pancreatography (ERCP).

Education, Training and Experience:
• Graduation from a recognized program for Practical.
• Current full practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
• Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty education in perioperative nursing (including theory and practicum) or minor surgical.
• 2 year’s recent related ambulatory care experience which includes experience in minor surgical, and/or medical specialty clinics in an acute care facility or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current CPR certification required.
