This is a relief full time opportunity. This position is to provide coverage until the return of the incumbent scheduled for Sept 25, 2019. Shifts of work are rotating days and nights; 07:30 to 19:45 and 19:30 to 07:45.

The Emergency Response MH Nurse provides consultation or assessment service to the Emergency Department or the Acute/Inpatient Mental Health service at the request of the Emergency Room physician, the general practitioner or the Emergency triage nurse. Initiates treatment as ordered by the attending physician and liaises with community services and agencies as indicated. Provides follow-up to all patients discharged from the Psychiatric Unit.

Qualifications

Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.

Current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses’ of BC (CRNBC) or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses’ of BC (CRPNBC).

Formal education/training in acute mental health nursing and a minimum of one year recent related experience in a multidisciplinary acute psychiatry setting including experience in Emergency/Crisis Intervention and rapid assessment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
