We are currently seeking an enthusiastic RN or RPN who is resourceful and passionate about interdepartmental collaboration to facilitate client stabilization and connection to appropriate community resources. If you have strong assessment skills and can thrive in a fast paced environment with competing priorities along with a strong clinical foundation and are confident in your decision making skills this is the job for you.
The Emergency Response Mental Health Nurse provides consultation or assessment service to the Emergency Department and the medical/surgical wards for management of patients with mental illness, substance use and/or challenging behaviours. This position provides recommendations in regards to caring for the patient, which medication/approach may be most effective and provides information on mental illness, substance use and challenging behaviours and prescribed approaches to care.
The In-Reach KGH Program is a hospital-based extension of the MHAES community program and provides emergency response from an RN/RPN/SW with specialty in caring for patients with mental health and substance use issues. The program is open 7 days per week and provides services to all ages.
Casual shifts will be scheduled on an as-needed basis with day/evening shifts 08:00 to 12:45 and 11:00 to 23:00.

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
• Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
• Formal education/training in acute mental health nursing
• Minimum of one year recent related experience in a multidisciplinary acute psychiatry setting including experience in Emergency/Crisis Intervention and rapid assessment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
