Interior Health is seeking a permanent full time Social Worker to join our warm and welcoming team at Hillside Centre in Kamloops, BC. We are seeking an experienced Social Worker who enjoys working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Hillside Centre is a 47 bed inpatient tertiary psychiatric facility. It provides specialized treatment for those with the most complex mental health disorders, both adults and elderly individuals, who cannot be cared for in the psychiatric system in their own area throughout the province. Programs offered at this site are Adult Psychiatry (11 beds), Neuropsychiatry (25 beds) and Geriatric Psychiatry (11 beds).
The Social Worker provides comprehensive therapeutic clinical counselling services to patients and families in the assigned clinical specialty area. Other duties include:
• Conducts comprehensive social work and psycho-social assessments of patients and families using a variety of modalities and in accordance with professional standards and clinical policies and practices and educates and provides consultation to patient, families and healthcare professionals.
• Provides leadership to the interdisciplinary team in care planning for the effective utilization of patient resources and participates as a member of local committees and planning bodies to identify areas for improved efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery to enhance patient care services and reduce gaps in the community.
• Develops, coordinates and delivers in-services, presentations, psycho-educational and support groups and initiates, develops and carries out research activities in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Staff members at Hillside are enthusiastic and strive to provide excellence in care. The patients at Hillside are some of the most challenging patients in the province so staff are creative in their care, finding a way to connect and work effectively with these patients. Staff experience is broad—geriatric, forensics, psychiatric ICU as well as specialized dementia and brain injury care. Staff education is integral to the success of this program and education initiatives are provided to increase the knowledge and skills of all staff. Hillside opened in 2006 and is a bright and beautiful building—a great environment for staff and patients.
Shifts of work are Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:00.

Masters Degree of Social Work from an accredited school of Social Work.
One year’s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Current full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.
Current valid BC Driver’s License.
**Previous mental health experience is an asset.
