We are looking for a flexible, patient-focused team player to fill a pediatric nursing opportunity that we have within our team at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, B.C. We’re a fun group and we enjoy sharing our sense of humour!
We are a tertiary referral center for Interior Health. The Pediatric unit at RIH provides inpatient care and is supported by 9 beds. We work with patients 17 and younger and provide all inpatient services, which keeps everyone current with best practices. Due to the size of the unit the nurses work very closely together and are great with mentoring new staff. We also assist workload on the OB side of the unit when we can and we work well together as a team.
Our Pediatric department is comprised of pediatricians, pediatric psychiatrists, hospitalists, pediatric nurses, dietician, diabetic specialist, educator and other specialists on a consulting basis.
RIH also provides outpatient support for children. The Pediatric Program believes in a closer to home model of care, where children when possible, can receive care in their home community surrounded by their support system. A partnership exists with BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital which allows for the provision of ongoing services and supportive care to pediatric patients living in Kamloops as well as the surrounding area. Outreach clinics from BC Children’s also utilize the outpatient space on the unit to provide follow-up to children and families. Cardiology and Neurology clinics throughout the year.
This is a temporary part time position until return of the incumbent.
Shifts of work are days and nights; 07:30 to 19:30 and 19:30 to 07:30.
