Interior Health’s Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) invites applications of Rehabilitation Assistant. RIH is looking for a knowledgeable Rehabilitation Assistants with experience in carrying out rehabilitative treatment plans and programs and assisting a Therapist in monitoring and evaluating patients/residents’ progression. RIH is a 258-bed facility that serves as the referral centre for approximately 250,000 people. As a tertiary referral hospital, RIH is a no refusal centre with an Emergency Department that receives over 250 major trauma and 72,000 visits per year. As a member of the RIH multidisciplinary rehabilitation team, you will carry out designated components of a rehabilitative treatment plan and/or program as directed by an Occupational Therapist or a Physiotherapist, such as strengthening, range of motion (ROM), ambulation training, self-care activities, life skills, work simulation, seating, and positioning. Reporting to the Professional Practice Leader you will draw upon your ability contribute to the overall evaluation of the client identifying and reporting verbally or in writing observable social, emotional, cognitive, physical and functional factors which might impact the client’s therapeutic program and progress. In this role the Rehabilitation Assistant demonstrates the techniques of activities to clients as directed by the Therapist, such as the use of prescribed treatment/adaptive devices (i.e. splints, wheelchairs, walkers, modified eating utensils, work simulation tools, and other equipment as required). Shifts will be available on a short-notice on-call bases and/or blocks of shifts pre-scheduled to relieve leaves of absences. Work when offered will be during the Day (08:00 to 16:00 hours). Casual employment means work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Casual employees receive 12.6% of their straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans. Qualifications |
Education, Training and Experience: • Completion of a recognized, two-year Rehabilitation Assistant Diploma Program. • Valid Driver’s License as required. Skills and Abilities: • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. • Ability to deal with others effectively. • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. • Ability to organize work. • Ability to operate related equipment.
