Position Summary

North Hills Care Centre incorporates under one roof: 1) Home Health services, 2) primary care for older adults, 3) lab collection, 4) a community bath program, and 4) a Seniors Health and Wellness Centre for frail seniors needing intensive intervention on a short‐term basis so they can live safely at home.

We are presently seeking applicants for on-call, short notice, and planned leave coverage for the Occupational Therapists working at North Hills Care Centre. On-call shifts will be within the current schedule for this position as:
• Week 1: Monday to Thursday
• Week 2: Monday to Friday
* This position also works approximately one weekend in every 3 to 4 weeks.

Home Health Community Occupational Therapists work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team providing occupational therapy services (i.e. assessment, treatment planning and implementation, program planning, consultation, equipment prescription and education) to clients and/or their caregivers. The goal is promoting functional independence and enabling the client to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes in a Home Health Community setting. Travel is involved in this role to areas within Kamloops to provide occupational therapy services to clients in their homes. A valid BC Driver’s License is necessary and access to a personal vehicle is required.

Casual employment means there are no guarantee of hours and work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Casual employees receive 12.6 percent of straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, Casual employees have the option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans. • Graduation from a recognized occupational therapy program.
• Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC).
• Valid BC Driver’s license required.
• Practice and experience in a Home Health Community setting is an asset.
