Interior Health is seeking an Occupational Therapist with interest covering a temporary full time line at Ponderosa Lodge located in Kamloops, BC. This position will cover short stay and long term care beds with the intended end date of this position March 31, 2020.
Ponderosa Lodge embodies a resident-centered philosophy designed to support residents’ choices, help people function at their highest level, and provide the best quality of life possible.
The beds at Ponderosa are “short term” only and consist of:
• 68 FAB (First Appropriate Bed) - these residents are waiting for a permanent bed in a long-term care facility
• 68 PTH (Pathway to Home) – these include convalescent care beds as well as respite care.
Practicing in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC), Occupational Therapists work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team providing therapy services including assessment, treatment planning and implementation, program planning, consultation, equipment prescription and education of residents and/or their caregivers to promote functional independence and enable the client to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes. Occupational therapists provide work direction to the Rehabilitation Assistants working with the rehabilitation team in regards to transfer of function.
Days of work are Monday to Friday with weekends and statutory holidays off. This position is eligible for our comprehensive benefits plan that includes coverage for basic Medical Services, Dental Services, and Extended Health.

• Graduation from a recognized occupational therapy program.
• Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC).
• Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists or British Columbia Society of Occupational Therapists.
