Position Summary

We are seeking new Casual Occupational Therapist team members at the Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) in Kamloops.

Casual Occupational Therapists can work as much as they want with shifts offered in different areas of the hospital in addition to long term care to build on skills and gain exposure to different areas of practice. Royal Inland Hospital’s Occupational Therapy team consists of approximately 40 Occupational Therapists and Rehab Assistant staff combined. There is much Casual work available in providing coverage for short notice absences and planned leaves less than 4 months.

RIH is a tertiary referral hospital providing high-level, specialty medical care including core physician specialties, 24 emergency and trauma services, ambulatory and outpatient clinics, and diagnostic services. RIH’s Occupational Therapy Department supports Acute care inpatients and outpatients, stroke unit, rehab unit, hand therapy program, and Acute mental health. Patient care with a team including Physiotherapy, Speech-Language Pathology, and Orthotics is a common practice.

Upon completion of 180 hours, Casual employees have the option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans. Many careers with Interior Health begin with on-call employment and lead to regular employment.

- Graduation from a recognized occupational therapy program.
- Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC).
- Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists or British Columbia Society of Occupational Therapists.
- Valid BC Driver’s license.
