Position Summary

Interior Health is seeking an experienced and dynamic Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our team on a permanent full time basis the North Shore Health Sciences Clinic in Kamloops, B.C.

Working autonomously and collaboratively with all members of the health team the NP will provide care to a roster of approximately 750 patients. You will join a team of 6 NPs and 2 GPs to provide comprehensive all- ages primary health care services to over 7,000 patients in north Kamloops. Established in April of 2017, meeting the attributes of the patient medical home/primary care home is a goal of the clinic. To meet the access needs of the community, the clinic operates with extended hours from 8:00 am until 8:00 pm weekdays and 8:00 am until 7:30 pm on Saturdays.

This NP opportunity focuses on providing primary health care services to those individuals who have complex co-morbid chronic conditions including chronic diseases and/or mental health and/or substance use conditions. Working collaboratively with all members of the health team and consulting with physicians and specialists when required, the NPs will support the needs of these patients. Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of health professionals, as well as current specialty clinics, the addition of primary care services for these vulnerable patients will allow for improved primary, community and patient centered care in addition to meeting the mandate of continuity and a shift to more upstream community based health care.

As the NP you will be responsible for the comprehensive assessment of patients/clients including diagnosing diseases, disorders, and conditions; initiating treatment including healthcare management and therapeutic interventions; and prescribing medications in accordance with statutory and regulatory standards, limits, conditions, and employer policies and procedures.

The successful candidate practices autonomously and interdependently within the context of an interdisciplinary healthcare team, making referrals to specialist physicians and others as appropriate. We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner who ideally has experience working in Primary Care; brings great leadership, communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills; and is an effective team member.

Interior Health strives to create an environment where you enjoy the work you do, the place where you work, and the people around you. As a member of the Interior Health (IH) team, you'll have access to services and benefits that can help you get the most out of work while maintaining a balanced lifestyle. Our focus is on giving people room to grow, to make an impact in the lives of others.
