Position Summary

Interior Health is seeking enthusiastic, experienced LPN–Orthopaedic Technicians to join our team to support the Urgent Family Care & Teaching Centre at the Royal Inland Hospital (RIH)/Clinical Services Building. This is a community-based position that works both autonomously and within a multi-disciplinary team; services include specialized casting, minor fractures, sprains and strains.

As the LPN-Orthopaedic Technician you will perform assessments and plan, implement and provide nursing care to patients in an ambulatory care setting. You will also dispense and administer oral, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications in accordance with pharmaceutical and organizational policies and procedures.

Under the direction of a physician you will provide orthopaedic care by assessing and evaluating patient condition, reviewing x-rays, applying casts and splints, and removing pins and sutures as well as setting up traction equipment and performing related orthopaedic duties.

This position is casual. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements may vary between 0 and 37.5 hours per week. Once hired into a casual role, employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent part-time or full time positions. • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses.
• Completion of recognized training in Orthopaedic Technology.
• Current full practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
• Current CPR certification.
