Position Summary

An opportunity exists for a Part Time (0.61 FTE) Laboratory Assistant to join our team at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. The Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of duties within the Laboratory such as taking blood samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine lab tests, distributing specimens to Laboratory departments and outside Laboratories, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and performing related clerical duties. Performs ECG testing as required.

Shifts times are varied and include days and nights on a rotating schedule. This is a temporary assignment until the return of incumbent.

Programs and services include chemistry, hematology, microbiology, histopathology, cytology, and transfusion medicine. Qualifications

• Grade 12.
• Successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program.
• One year's recent, related experience.
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
• Typing speed of 25 WPM - please upload a copy of an invigilated typing test dated within the last 24 months. We do not accept self-administered online tests.
