Position Summary

North Hills Care Centre incorporates a Primary and Community Care Services Centre and Seniors Health and Wellness Centre in one. Patients are referred by their family doctor, nurse practitioner, or specialist. An interprofessional team operates at the centre and consists of: a geriatrician, family physicians with a special interest in geriatrics, mental health clinicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, registered dietitian, rehabilitation assistants, speech and language pathologist, pharmacist, registered nurses, social workers, and a respiratory therapist provide specialized short-term care (four to eight weeks).

We are looking to build our Casual Rehabilitation Assistant pool with new team members. Casual employment provides relief in positions occupied by regular full time and regular part time employees. This includes short-notice, on-call shifts to covering absences in a specific position. Interior Health requires all employees that work Casual to work a minimum of 225 hours over a twelve (12) month period.

Under the clinical direction of the Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist, the Rehabilitation Assistant functions as a member of the multidisciplinary team in meeting the needs of the client. The Rehabilitation Assistant carries out rehabilitative treatment plans and programs, and assists the Therapist in monitoring and evaluating client’s progression. The Rehabilitation Assistant assists clients with activities of daily living, and implements group and individual programs in clients’ homes and other community sites.

Casual employees will receive 9.6% of their straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is the option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans.

Education, Training, and Experience:
• Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Diploma Program.

Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
