As the Med Lab Technologist you will work autonomously within our supportive and cohesive team environment, providing vital Lab services to both inpatients and outpatient clients from the community. This is a generalist Core Lab position and offers an excellent opportunity to hone independent practice and self-direction within our small and varied laboratory – basic chemistry, transfusion medicine, hematology and blood bank.
Typical duties include: routine and/or complex tests utilizing manual procedures and automated instruments, greeting patients, collecting and/or receiving specimens, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS), validating/reporting test results, maintaining instruments and preparing solutions and control agents
This is a permanent part-time 0.59fte opportunity. Days of work are rotating and shift times are 07:00-15:00 and 11:00-19:00. Participation in the Lab out of hours and weekend on-call schedule (typically 1 out of 3 weekends) is required. • Graduation from an approved Medical Laboratory Science Program
• Current certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and eligible for membership with the BC Society of Laboratory Sciences (BCSLS) and/or CSMLS
• One (1) year recent related experience
