Position Summary |
Have you completed a recognized course in recreation therapy? Do you have a valid Class 4 vehicle license? We are presently seeking new team members to join our Recreation Therapy Department at Parkview Place in Enderby, BC. Working within a client centered model, the Recreation Therapy Worker is a member of the interdisciplinary team and is responsible for the implementation and evaluation of an established Recreation Therapy Program. As the Recreation Therapy Worker you will be primarily working with geriatric residents and short stay clients This position assists in getting residents to/from their programs and carries out established leisure/recreation therapy programs. Staff go on outings with the residents and facilitate groups specific to the needs of the residents (i.e. social, physical, spiritual, etc.) including one-to-one programs. The Recreation Therapy Worker also reports relevant observations of resident progress and behavior to the Supervisor/Recreation Therapist and provides suggestions for changes or modifications to the existing programs. Shifts of work are rotating and may be scheduled during days or evenings; shift times are 09:00 to 17:00. This is a casual opportunity meaning hours are not guaranteed and may vary between 0 and 37.5 hrs per week. (Once hired into a casual role, employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent part time or full time positions. Qualifications |
Grade 12, completion of a recognized recreation course(s) plus two year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid class 4 vehicle license as required. Skills and Abilities: • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. • Ability to deal with others effectively. • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. • Ability to organize work. • Ability to operate related equipment.
