Interior Health’s Creston Valley Hospital (CVH) invites applications for the role of Medical Device Reprocessing Technician/Perioperative Aide. CVH is looking for Medical Device Reprocessing Technician/Perioperative Aides knowledgeable in the detailed technical duties related to the decontamination, sterilization, reassembly, function testing and distribution of medical and/or surgical supplies/instruments for various areas of the hospital.
CVH is a 16-bed acute care bed Community hospital located in Creston, B.C. offering healthcare services including surgical, inpatient and emergency. As member of the CVH surgical services’ team you will assist the surgical team with the preparation of the Operating Room (OR) theaters and the positioning and preparation of the surgical patients and related supplies/equipment. Reporting to Manger, Clinical Operations Operating Room, you will draw upon your ability to prepare case carts with required supplies and equipment for each surgical procedure in accordance with the principles of infection control, decontamination, sterilization, and aseptic technique, and established policies, procedures and safety standards.
Casual employment means work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Casual employees receive 12.6% of their straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans. A Casual position may lead into regular employment opportunities as once hired, employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent part-time or full time positions.

Facility Details: CVH Operating Room Department consists of two OR theatre and four-bed recovery room. Dental Surgery; Ear, Nose and Throat Services; General Surgery; OB/Gyne; Colonscopy; Endoscopy; and Gastrocopy procedures are performed.
Community Profile: The quiet community of Creston is located south of Kootenay Lake in the heart of the Rockies Region in Southeast BC and is nestled between the Purcell and Selkirk Mountains. Creston boasts many local Artisans with skills such as blacksmithing, pottery, quilting, broom-making and painting and display their creations at annual events such as the Arts and Culture Festival and Art Walk. The Creston Valley is a breathtaking combination of snow-capped mountain peaks, fields of grain, deep clear lakes and wide-open spaces. Education, Training and Experience:
• Grade 12
• Successful completion of Sterile Processing Course,
• One year’s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Mathematical aptitude.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
• Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology.
