East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKRH) is looking to hire an additional team member to join its Acute Care Speech-Language Pathology Services.
EKRH’s Speech-Language Pathology Services focus primarily on Adults with communication and /or swallowing disorders. The position provides assessment, treatment, education, and referral sources to the patients/clients they serve. Speech-Language Pathologists in the Acute Care setting provide evaluation and treatment of swallowing disorders and speech and language problems resulting from strokes, head injury, respiratory issues, and other medical complications. There is an expectation to be competent in dysphagia management, including conducting and interpreting videofluoroscopic examinations.
Casual employment means no guarantee of hours as in a regular rotation and work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Shifts may be scheduled Monday through Friday 08:00 to 16:00 hours. Casual employees receive 12.6 percent of straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, Casual employees have the option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans.

• Registration as a Speech-Language Pathologist with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC.
• One year’s clinical experience with adults in a hospital setting is preferred.
