Our Microbiology Team is seeking a flexible and reliable Medical Laboratory Technologist to join their welcoming team at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, BC.
East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKRH) is a 75 bed acute care hospital with a medium size Laboratory offering Core Lab, Microbiology, Histopathology and Specimen Accession services. It is considered a regional referral site for selected testing and there are 30 Medical Technologists and 25 Med Lab Assistants employed in the various areas of the lab.
Working in the Microbiology department, you can expect to work in a team based environment and perform a variety of duties within the Microbiology area of the Lab such as: routine and/or complex tests, utilizing manual procedures and automated instruments, including PCR testing, receiving specimens, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS), and validating/reporting test results.
This is a relief part-time (0.71fte) position until SEPTEMBER 2020 or the return of the current incumbent. Days of work are rotating and shift times are 08:30 to 16:30, 07:30 to 15:30, 08:30 to 16:30, 14:30 to 22:30. There is the opportunity to bid for additional shifts.

Graduation from an approved Medical Laboratory Science Program
Current certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and eligible for membership with the BC Society of Laboratory Sciences (BCSLS) and/or CSMLS
One (1) year recent related experience
