We are accepting applications for the following Support Services opportunities within various worksites located within the Interior Health geographical area:


COOK
Cooks perform duties related to the preparation and cooking of food items; portioning and serving food, washing and cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils and designated cooking/work stations.

The Cook II performs duties such as preparing/portioning assigned food items, planning cooking and preparation schedule, coordinating workflow in assigned area, providing work direction to designated food service staff, ordering and receiving supplies, sanitization of production equipment and work areas, and related administrative functions.

To qualify: Graduation from a recognized 12-month program in quantity cooking, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. For the Cook II positions one year of recent related experience is required in addition to above.


FOOD SERVICE WORKER
Food Service Workers perform a variety of duties within a food service operation such as portioning and serving meals, washing and peeling vegetables and fruit, preparing items such as tea, coffee and toast, washing dishes and utensils, and setting up and delivering meal carts.

Food Service Worker II performs a variety of duties within the food services operation, such as checking meal trays against patient menus to ensure accuracy of food and beverage items; reheating of meal service items according to predetermined temperatures and times; receiving supplies and checking goods received against invoices; washing dishes, pots, pans and utensils; taking cash/ preparing and verifying daily float and setting up and delivering meal carts. Other duties may include measuring and combining food and beverage ingredients by procedures such as grinding, blending and slicing and preparing and portioning out therapeutic diet items.

To qualify: Grade 10, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Completion of a Food Safe 1 Certificate is an asset.


FOOD SERVICE SUPERVISOR
The Food Service Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Food Service operations in the designated facilities. The Food Service Supervisor performs duties such as: supervising designated staff, ordering food and supplies, performing other departmental administrative duties, and/or visiting patients to obtain diet related information in regards to nutritional and therapeutic diet needs.

To qualify: Graduation from a recognized two-year program in Food Service Supervision, plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


SUPPORT WORKER
The Support Worker performs a variety of duties within the assigned patient and residential areas related to food, housekeeping and laundry services, in accordance to departmental policies and procedures.

To qualify: Grade 10, plus one year’s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Completion of a Food Safe 1 Certificate is an asset.


SUPPORT SERVICES SUPERVISOR
The Support Service Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Food, Housekeeping and Laundry Service operations in the designated facilities. The Support Service Supervisor performs duties such as: supervising designated staff, ordering food and supplies, performing other departmental administrative duties, and/or visiting patients to obtain diet related information in regards to nutritional and therapeutic diet needs.

To qualify: Graduation from a recognized two-year program in Food Service Supervision, plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


CLEANER
Cleaners perform housekeeping duties throughout the facility and maintains clean and sanitary conditions in areas such as patient/resident/client rooms, washrooms, corridors, hallways, lounges, offices and common areas used by staff, visitors and patients/residents/clients.

To qualify: Grade 10 or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


PATIENT PORTER
Patient Porters assist and transport patients including deceased patients, their personal belongings, equipment, specimens and supplies to and from various locations within the hospital in accordance with hospital and Interior Health policies and procedures. Reports to the professional staff patient observations and interactions, as appropriate. Performs clerical, cleaning and tidying duties.

To qualify: Grade 10 plus one years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Many of our opportunities are Casual in nature. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from Zero to 37.5 hours per week. Casual employment includes: short-notice, on-call availability; workload coverage during a temporary absence; and/or providing relief coverage in a specific position. Once hired into a casual role, employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent part-time or full time positions. There are many opportunities with Interior Health that begin with casual on-call positions and lead to regular employment.
