We are accepting applications for the Community Health Worker role within various worksites located within the Interior Health geographical area and we invite eligible applicants to apply.

A Community Health Aide (CHW) is a Health Care Assistant who works in a community based setting. CHWs provide one-to-one home support services to clients by assisting with personal care and daily living while promoting maximum independence. Community Health Workers are key players in the home health care plan for each client.

Many of our opportunities are Casual in nature. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from Zero to 37.5 hours per week. Casual employment includes: short-notice, on-call availability; workload coverage during a temporary absence; and/or providing relief coverage in a specific position. Once hired into a casual role, employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent part-time or full time positions. There are many opportunities with Interior Health that begin with casual on-call positions and lead to regular employment.

• Completion of Certificates (i.e. Resident Care Aide, Home Support Worker, etc)
• BC Care Aide/Community Health Worker registration number
• Current valid BC driver’s license
• Your resume
• A cover letter which mustinclude the following:
A) your preferred choice of city/town/community
B) your availability to start in a new position
C) schedule of availability for on-call, casual work (i.e. days of the week you're available to work)
D) Aboriginal self-identification per above eligible definition


• Grade 12
• Graduation from a recognized Resident Care Aide/Home Support Worker Program
OR an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience
• Current valid BC Driver’s license

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others
• Ability to operate related equipment
• Ability to organize and prioritize
• Physical ability to perform job duties
