Pleasant Valley Manor is located on the beautiful surroundings of Armstrong, embodies a resident-centered philosophy designed to support residents’ choices, help people function at their highest level, and provide the best quality of life possible. This facility is a 82 bed complex care facility (81 permanent, 1 respite beds) equipped with services and 24 hr. staff devoted to a comfortable living environment.
Working within a client centered model, the Recreation Therapy Worker works as a member of the interdisciplinary team and is responsible for the implementation and evaluation of an established Recreation Therapy Program.
As the Recreation Therapy Worker you will be primarily working with geriatric residents and short stay clients. This position plans programs and assists in getting residents to/from their programs. Staff go on outings with the residents, facilitate groups specific to the needs of the residents (i.e. social, physical, spiritual, etc.), and one-to-one programs. The Recreation Therapy Worker completes leisure assessments on clients and work alongside volunteers.

Education, Training and Experience:
Grade 12, completion of a recognized recreation course(s) plus two year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid class 4 vehicle license as required.
Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
