Position Summary |
Interior Health’s 100 Mile House Hospital (OMH) invites applications for the role of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). OMH is looking for LPNs knowledgeable in the competency guidelines and full scope of practice within the Standards of Practice as outlined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia. OMH is an acute care hospital housed within the South Cariboo Health Centre, the hospital offers services including surgical, inpatient and emergency. As member of the OMH nursing care team, you perform assessments, plan, implement and provide personal and nursing care to patients. Reporting to Manger, Clinical Operations, you will draw upon your ability to administers oral, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications in accordance with pharmaceutical and organizational policies and procedures. This position will be to the assigned area of Ambulatory Care and Endoscopy/Cysto units but it is also a float positon to Emergency and Acute care. Casual employment means work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Shifts when available will fall within a Day schedule. Casual employees receive 12.6% of their straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans. A Casual position may lead into regular employment opportunities as once hired, employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent part-time or full time positions. Qualifications |
Education, Training and Experience: • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. • Current full practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). • Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of the assigned area as required by the position: o Minor Procedures Clinic - completion of additional education in perioperative nursing (including theory and practicum in scrub and circulating roles), plus two year’s recent related ambulatory care experience which includes experience in minor surgical, and/or medical specialty clinics in an acute care facility or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. o Endoscopy – completion of additional education in gastro intestinal (GI) Nursing and a minimum of two year’s recent, related clinical experience in the assigned practice environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. • Current CPR certification required. Skills and Abilities: • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. • Ability to deal with others effectively. • Ability to organize work. • Ability to operate related equipment. • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
