The salary range for this position is $90,770 (min) to $113,462 (midpoint) to $130,48 (max) per annum, based on 1.0 FTE. Interior Health typically establishes salaries within the minimum and midpoint of the salary range based on qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

How will you create an impact:
The Lead, Spreading Quality Improvement (Lead SSC SQI), funded by the Specialist Services Committee (SSC) is responsible for providing foundational support to achieve Coordinated and Accessible Services and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement Triple Aim (improve the health of the population, enhance patient and provider experience, reduce/maintain costs) by supporting physicians in quality improvement activities. The Lead will provide ‘at the elbow’s support and training for quality improvement, coordinate regular time/space to review data with physicians, and support physicians and teams to trial the spreading of quality improvements.

While administrative reporting will be to the Manager, of PQI, the overall reporting structure of the SQI Program is a matrix reporting relationship to the Joint SSC/IHA PQI Steering Committee. The partnership aligns across the various province health authorities. Alignment within IH is up to the Vice President of Medicine and Quality.

What will you work on:
• Provides leadership and expertise to promote a culture of quality improvement.
• Facilitates the collaboration of partnerships between Physicians, IH leadership, and staff.
• Provides leadership and quality improvement expertise to local community teams in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of quality initiatives designed to improve patient-centered care, service utilization, patient safety, and risk reduction.
• Supports physicians to align and integrate improvement efforts with IH quality service teams, programs, and networks.
• Enables physicians to maintain, monitor, and analyze quality data and facilitates the collection of this data.
• Mentors physicians and IH Leads on conducting the work themselves. Supports physicians’ awareness of how projects align with IH, and Accreditation Canada Standards.
• Provides facilitation, coaching, and consultation to physicians and their teams in the development, monitoring, and analysis of key performance indicators in alignment with their project and reporting within Interior Health.
• Performs project management duties in support of approved SQI projects and responds to and actions all requests that are made from SQI Central.
• In conjunction with the PQI Coordinator, provides administrative support including room booking, taking of minutes, meeting planning. Provides onsite support to spreading teams. Liaises with all external supports involved in the approved projects.
• Facilitates the development of the evaluation strategy for each approved SQI project using reliable data.
• Provides timely budget updates and escalates expense requests to PQI/SQI Manager.
• In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, employees shall adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times and attend all required training. Employees are responsible to report any identified hazards, unsafe conditions or incidents to the manager or supervisor immediately.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience
• Master’s degree in a health related field, including educational preparation in quality improvement, facilitation, change management, delivery of education and training.
• Five years recent quality improvement clinical experience in health care services, as well as progressive management experience.
• Or an equivalent of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally, in writing and via virtual platforms
• Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement principles, methods, and tools
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated skills in facilitation, presentation, and adult teaching skills both in person and virtually.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of professional and client partners.
• Ability to operate related equipment and proficiency in the use of computer software.
• Must be familiar with quality improvement methods, tools, and software, such as Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Excel, and PowerPoint
