Mental Health Substance Use Counselling & Treatment Clinician | Adult Outpatient Eating Disorders

Position Summary

Interior Health is hiring a permanent part time (0.60 FTE) Mental Health Substance Use (MHSU) Counselling & Treatment Clinician to join our progressive Mental Health & Substance Use, Adult Outpatient Eating Disorders Program at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, B.C.

This position will be primarily located out of Royal Inland Hospital; however, employees may be required to work out of other designated Interior Health facilities within Kamloops or surrounded area, pending operational need.

Who are we looking for?

For the Adult Outpatient Eating Disorders Program, we are looking for a compassionate, clinically skilled Counselling & Treatment Clinician with experience supporting adults with complex mental health presentations and/or eating disorders. The ideal candidate will bring strong assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic and care coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients experiencing co-occurring mental health, substance use, and physical health concerns. The successful candidate will be comfortable using evidence-based therapeutic approaches, building strong therapeutic relationships, collaborating within a multidisciplinary team, and supporting clients and families through recovery while responding appropriately to risk and complex clinical needs.

What will you work on?

This position will be supporting the Adult Outpatient Eating Disorders Program.

The Counselling & Treatment Clinician functions as a member of the larger Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) health care team and as a member of a specific MHSU multi-disciplinary team whose purpose is to ensure that persons with serious acute mental health problems and / or problematic substance use issues have access to timely, responsive, evidence based short term treatment and clinical supports across the continuum of available services.

The Counselling & Treatment Clinician provides, at the advanced practice level, assessment, treatment, service coordination, and as required, urgent response to the most complex clients, frequently with co-occurring disorders, who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. The Counselling & Treatment Clinician functions as a primary clinician utilizing a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.

Scheduling Information:

Days of work are Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday and shift times are from 09:00 to 17:00 hours.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

• Masters degree from an accredited educational institution in an Allied Health, Behavioural, or Social Science field relevant to the position.

• Two years’ recent related experience in a mental health and substance use environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Current valid B.C. driver’s license (Class 5).
