Coordinator | Employee Experience (WORKSITE LOCATION IS FLEXIBLE)

Position Summary

Interior Health is hiring a permanent full-time Coordinator | Employee Experience who is passionate about making a difference in health care.

Location: This position is flexible within the Interior Health Region aside from approximately one day per week on site at the Community Health and Services Centre in Kelowna, B.C.

The salary range for this position is $69,218 (min) to $86,522 (midpoint) to $99,501 (max) per annum, based on 1.0 FTE. Interior Health typically establishes salaries within the minimum and midpoint of the salary range based on qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

How will you create an impact:

The Coordinator, Employee Experience (Coordinator) supports the implementation and advancement of strategic initiatives and related programs that facilitate an improved employee experience. This role provides coordination and operational support for a broad range of initiatives including employee onboarding, recognition, continuous listening, accessibility, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), Indigenous employee experience, retention, data and measurement, workplace culture, employee engagement and other employee lifecycle initiatives that support employee well-being, belonging and organizational effectiveness.

Through the coordination of strategic planning efforts, development of communication and promotional materials, and with an emphasis on employee feedback and continuous listening, the Coordinator functions as a key contact for the Employee Experience team and collaborates with both internal and external partners. Supporting the full Employee Experience & Retention portfolio, the Coordinator contributes to initiatives that advance DEI, Indigenous Employee Experience anti-racism, cultural safety, accessibility and inclusion.

What will you work on:

• Researches the latest innovations and best practices related to DEI, decolonization, and Indigenization, accessibility, recognition, continuous listening and retention and gathers internal data to make recommendations regarding programs, initiatives, processes, policies, and procedures.
• Develops reports, presentations, promotional materials, and other communication tools overseen by Employee Experience & Retention, including but not limited to the creation of the DEI content Sharepoint sites, and education for days of awareness etc. Provides supports and resources for committees, working groups, events, and collaboration efforts with both internal and external partners including the Accessibility Committee, Employee Voices, the Indigenous Employee Experience Working Group, Accessibility Committee and others as required.
• Provides timely, relevant, reliable, and clear information with appropriate supporting data analyses including reviews of alternatives to inform planning, decision-making, and future programming. This includes population, service utilization, outcome analyses, and operational real-time data for use by internal and external partners.
• Assists in creating, administering, and analyzing quantitative, qualitative, and statistical data gathering mechanisms, to track and evaluate outcomes related to employee engagement, feelings of inclusion, and cultural safety.
• Supports the management of vendor contracts, including fees, contract renewals and new terms, and acts as the key contact for external contracts; coordinates invoice payments and ensures all records are maintained.
• Supports the development and evolution of rewards and recognition programs to establish a culture of appreciation and socialize IH’s values. This may include researching best practice, preparing documentation and presentation materials, educating leaders and employees, coordinating distribution, and planning related events.
• Collaborates with the Manager to assess budget and cost projections, and whether contract proposals comply with budget allocations.
• Develops and organizes workflows for employee experience programs and provides recommendations on solutions to day-to-day problems and/or escalates decisions to the Manager.
• Develops positive working relationships and partnerships with key internal and external partners to garner collaboration, involvement, and support toward transforming the employee experience.
• Works closely with Business Partners and other subject matter experts to coordinate and develop related training programs that promote inclusive and culturally safe dialogue and behaviours; provides related professional development opportunities for leadership and staff.
• Gathers information from leaders, managers, and staff to understand experiences and opportunities for improvement regarding existing training and education programs, policies/standards that inform training objectives and required future state competencies to ensure the department’s curriculum and training programs adequately support competency and skill development and cover future state business requirements.
• In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, employees shall adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times and attend all required training. Employees are responsible to report any identified hazards, unsafe conditions or incidents to the manager or supervisor immediately.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience

• Undergraduate degree in an area of Human Resources Management, Organizational Behaviour, or other related field.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of recent related experience. Previous experience in working in a large, complex, and unionized environment is an asset.
• Education and/or training related to DEI and reconciliation is an asset.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to work independently in a team environment, effectively organize their own workload and multitask to meet a variety of deadlines.
• Advanced ability in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint) and other program-specific software.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with diverse populations and varying levels throughout the organization and community.
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative in problem solving and implementing changes.
• Knowledge of human rights, employment laws, and other related legislation and reports.
• Advocate for historically marginalized communities with a commitment to creating equitable systems and structures to enable inclusive and culturally safe environments for all.
• Able to take initiative and promptly identify best outcome resolutions for clients and partners
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing needs.
