Salary range for the position is $69,218 to $99,501 Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.
How will you create an impact:
The Senior Strategic Business Advisor is responsible for supporting the Contracted Services Team in maximizing value and minimizing risk in relationships with contractors. The Senior Strategic Business Advisor will focus on providing appropriate and timely information and support to the Strategic Business Coordinator. The Senior Strategic Business Advisor will provide support to the Contract Advisors related to Contracted Services policies and procedures, contracts and funding.
The primary focus of the Senior Strategic Business Advisor is to maintain a thorough knowledge of the Ministry of Health, Health Authority, and Contracted Services processes and systems, be the link between the operational contract processes and the strategic negotiation processes of the team. In particular, the Senior Strategic Business Advisor will be responsible for contracts considered to have higher complexity and provide support to the Strategic Business Coordinator with implementation of such contracts and related required reporting.
What will you work on:
• Supports the Coordinator and collaborates with the strategic team in the review and development of contract processes for complex or new service delivery models to ensure that new processes are strategically appropriate.
• Advises Interior Health (IH) Managers on the strategic implications of contractual decisions and on appropriate action regarding the application for contracts and termination policies.
• Provides recommendations and advice on important data development and process improvements to maximize contracted services revenues and future projects/analyses.
• Liaises with the Contract Advisors to implement contract payments and reporting processes for new contracts to ensure appropriate and adequate financial information and controls are in place, in alignment with audit requirements.
• Provides day to day guidance and direction to Contract Advisors, including assignment of work related to Contracted Services contracts. Organizes and aligns projects for operational efficiency and reduces workload pressures across multiple teams in IH.
• Provides training support to new Contract Advisors, including guidance on reporting requirements, use of contract database, and consistency of Contracted Services processes.
• Supports the management and resolution of complex payment issues, as appropriate or as escalated by other Contract Advisors.
• Provides first-line analysis of strategic reports as required by the Coordinator.
• Supports monthly safety inspections for the Operations Team as well as Annual Safety Reviews ensuring documentation is accurate and aligned with organizational safety standards and requirements and submitted on time.
• Provides administrative and data support to the Coordinator in project work.
• Ensures the smooth working and continuous development of the contract database including data collection, processes, validation, and management.
• Supports the Coordinator in the development of training materials and policies such as change of service provider, subcontracting, and other issues of contractual compliance or intended change.
• Provides the Coordinator with information to support the contract renewal cycle.
• Supports the relationships between Coordinator and others within the Contracted Services team on strategic issues.
• Maintains expertise in all Contracted Services practices and provides backup to the Coordinator as required.
• In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, employees shall adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times and attend all required training. Employees are responsible to report any identified hazards, unsafe conditions or incidents to the manager or supervisor immediately.
• Attend Ministry meetings and other relevant meetings as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience
• A post-secondary diploma in a related field.
• A minimum of five to seven years of experience in a complex environment, preferably in contract management.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills and Abilities
• General accounting knowledge is required.
• Expert knowledge of Word and Excel.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management in IH and with outside peers in related fields across other Health Authorities and the Ministry of Health.
