About the Job
The Registered Nurse:
• completes a comprehensive assessment of the physiological, psychological, socio-cultural and spiritual needs of the client and family unit and determines client status and responses to actual or potential health problems
• coordinates and oversees the overall care. Sets priorities, provides clinical expertise and leadership for the plan of care, plans and implements health care treatments and interventions, and assigns and delegates tasks as appropriate to other members of the healthcare team. Evaluates the appropriateness and effectiveness of treatments and interventions on an ongoing basis.
• ensures the client/family unit actively participates in the development, implementation and ongoing modification of the plan of care, including the long and short-term goals. Develops and implements learning plans to meet identified client learning needs.Maintains and advances own clinical competence
• collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team and participates in rounds and/or patient care conferences to ensure effective, consistent, and comprehensive care planning and delivery. Justifies decisions with reference to knowledge or theory.
• reviews pertinent data obtained (a) through investigative procedures and (b) by other members of the health care team (including medical history, progress notes, consultation reports, lab reports, etc.) and incorporates findings into the plan of care.
• performs other related duties as assigned.
The Seniors Health and Wellness Centre is a multidisciplinary health care team aiming to provide a comprehensive approach to geriatric health care needs. The nurse offers thorough screening and assessment to those living with complex geriatric concerns, and provides intervention in the form of education and mentoring for older adults and their families on a variety of topics including memory care, management of complex health needs, continence care and increasing awareness of community services and supports. The nurse works collaboratively with clinic physicians and clinicians to assist clients and their care partners to meet their goals and supports communication with their primary care provider.
This is a Casual opportunity. Casual Employees are not guaranteed hours of work and can range from 0-37.5 hours per week on an as-needed basis.
Shifts of work will be scheduled days and nights rotating from 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 hours.

Interior Health, alongside B.C.'s other health authorities, is implementing mNPRs as a transformative staffing initiative that aims to improve the working environment of nurses in order to provide better quality care to our patients.
Qualifications
• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing, with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Successful completion of a Gerontological Nursing Certificate and advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of foot care and/or continence.
• Two (2) years’ recent related clinical experience caring for older adults and their families including applying gerontological nursing knowledge and principles in a team based care setting; completing comprehensive gerontological assessments and individualized care plans; and implementing/evaluating age appropriate interventions; or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
